With Yellowstone National Park on one side and the Gallatin National Forest on the other, we are surrounded with miles of hiking trails, trout streams and protected wilderness to explore.

For the fly-fisherman, our location is just minutes from some of the world’s best trout streams with the Madison, Gallatin, Firehole rivers and more just out the back door. Head out on your own or take a float trip down the Madison with one of the many West Yellowstone fly shops. Catch a baetis hatch on the Firehole River and fish in some of the most spectacular surroundings you have ever seen.

Yellowstone’s wonders are endless and expansive offering days worth of exploration. Visit the iconic Old Faithful, Mammoth Hot Springs and the great falls of the Yellowstone River, or spend a day exploring the park’s many thermal features. For those looking to get off of the beaten path both Yellowstone and the surround National Forest have extensive trail systems for you to hike.

Need an afternoon off? Stroll through West Yellowstone’s downtown shops, visit the Yellowstone Heritage Museum to learn about the area’s history, or watch the wildlife at the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center. Enjoy dinner out on the town or take advantage of the full kitchen back at the lodge. For a real Montana experience, head out to the Wild West Rodeo for an evening of entertainment.

Looking for a real taste of the Old West and Montana? Head over to Virginia City, a historic mining town just down the road. For a bit of city life, Montana-style, head up to Bozeman and enjoy the many downtown, shops, restaurants, wine bars, and more. For the more adventurous folks, take a raft trip down the Gallatin River or head into the backcountry by horseback. The opportunities are endless.

During the winter months, West Yellowstone is a winter wonderland. Head into Yellowstone by snowmobile or snow coach for a totally unique view of the park and it’s wildlife. For a little more adventure, head out by snowmobile on the miles of groomed trails outside of the park in surrounding Montana and Idaho. Take a tour of the Gallatin National Forest by dog sled. Or for the skier, come and enjoy our world renowned cross-country skiing on the Rendezvous Ski Trails or spend an afternoon on the slopes in Big Sky, MT just up the road.
